Shameless Appeal

Louis and I entered a video contest recently created by the owners of a local frozen yogurt/waffle business- Vanilla Jill's. If you want to vote for us, just click "like" on the company facebook page, and vote for us!

Below is a teaser image from the video....
I hand-cut the shape out of a huge piece of cardboard and painted the top with some primer and white acrylic paint. Louis, who plays the part of the yogurt, is wearing my mom's yellow boots.

If you live in the Lane County area, definitely visit Vanilla Jill's!  I love how they decorated the place, and their yogurt is fantastic. I've been to a few similar shops, but VJ is the only one I can think of that makes really gourmet (and healthy) products like pumpkin and pear frozen yogurt.

So, here's how you see (and vote for) the video:

1. Become a fan of Vanilla Jill's on Facebook.
2. Click the two arrows- when a box pops up underneath it select "contests."
3. You'll be able to see all the entries, and VOTE!

Anyway, we would be so thrilled to get your vote! Don't forget to check out all the other great videos while you're over there...

Thank you so much! This would definitely make our week!

thanksgiving

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent at my Aunt and Uncle's house. The kids had a fun time sledding, everyone was healthy, and four pies were consumed. Sadly, that evening as we were walking down the hill after dinner, my grandma slipped and fractured her wrist. We all felt terrible that she had to spend the evening in the ER- not a fun place to be on a holiday. She's doing better now, though. Friday, before driving home in the pouring rain, we ate leftovers and played with this 9-week-old puppy, Junior:
Junior might weigh up to 200 pounds when he's full grown. My dog weighs in at a whopping 47 pounds and is still a major speed-bump when you have to get across the room in a short amount of time. Click on this link to view the titanic size of these beasts. Anyway, I think he's cute.
The neighbors had migrated south, so we took full advantage of their sloping driveway.
Their pose reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting.
View from the deck. Mountains are so beautiful. I would photograph them every day if I could.
My lovely Aunt, who is hiding behind the camera.

"...as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness" (Colossians 2:7)

Susanna {mini session}

Earlier today at about 11:00 my mom and I headed down to campus to do a quick shoot with Andre and his tuba. I'll be posting those photos here next week, but for now here are some I took of Susanna, who came with us.

It's been about 10 months since I've shot anything at this location. I'd been wanting to take pictures in front of the museum for a while, but hadn't made it happen. (I have a very long mental list of places I need to do photo shoots at.) Looking back, I'm wishing that I had used every bit of that summer light. Naturally inspiration comes in the middle of winter. (Oh? You say it's not the middle of winter already?)

Anyway. My summer fantasies have subsided for the moment. Coats and rubber boots, peppermint/eggnog/pumpkin spice lattes, and rain on the roof at night are acceptable substitutes for leisurely summer bike rides and the kind of sunshine that comes in the morning and stays till the evening.

So...here are the photos. I'm really pleased with how these turned out. Susanna is a very good model:) Also, I am madly in love with bricks.

sunset and leaves

Normally I don't post on Mondays, but I've had these pictures in a post draft since last Friday and I thought I'd put them up here. I'm hoping for sunny days this week so shooting can commence, but for now all I have are these photos to remind me that the sun does indeed exist under the soggy, gray cloud blanket.

Walls And Windows

I'm a fan of old paint and plaster, if you didn't know already. I absolutely hate ugly architecture, although my definition of "ugly" is different than most. For me, an interesting wall is another backdrop for a future photo.

Here are some shots I took today while out scouting for new locations:

(Also, you should be thankful I restricted myself to buildings this time. Click here to see why I can't be the Sartorialist. Click here to see why I don't want to be the Sartorialist.)

Louis: A Preview

Today the one-brother-who-was-available-at-the-moment and I headed downtown to do a shoot at some fun locations. He was very nice about it and did all the weird things I asked him to do. (Maybe it had something to do with the Voodoo donut I got him?) It was overcast, but I actually like the results. Since pretty much all the leaves have fallen, shooting in parks or out in the country isn't the best idea. Urban shoots are fun - I'm hoping to do more of them! Here are a two frames...you'll have to wait a few days for the rest!
